Dear Montessori Families,
As the principal of New York City Montessori Charter School, I welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year! I am eagerly anticipating a successful and rewarding year. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff, parents, and community partners to provide an exceptional educational experience for all of our NYCMCS students.
For those of you whom I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Abeku Bomani Hayes, fondly known to my closest friends and family as, “Mr. Hayes”, due to the complexity of my first name. Prior to joining the NYCMCS family, I have been humbled to serve as a Principal, Assistant Principal, Coach, and English teacher. Most of my assignments have been in situations where schools needed to be “turned around”. I am happy to say my track record boasts consistent improvement at every school where I have served.
I recognize being the parent/guardian of a student enrolled in a charter school in transition can signal feelings of both excitement and trepidation, and I thank you for entrusting your children to the NYCMCS staff. We do not take lightly out responsibility in ensuring your children experience a highly engaging educational program in a safe and nurturing environment, and we are thrilled to partner with our families as they embark on this phase of their children’s academic journey. Please rest assured that our goal is to remain a Montessori school that is uniquely placed in a city where we are the only public Montessori school.
I am excited and honored to work with the NYCMCS family for what I know will be an amazing school year. Those of you who know me know I truly have an open door policy, and I welcome your questions, concerns, and input at any time.
It is a great day to be a part of the New York City Montessori Charter School Team and Family!
